Last summer I had an exhibition at the Chapelle Saint Jean in our village of La Garde Freinet, it was a first for me in this extraordinary 17th century setting invited by and under the aegis of the Association of Artists of the township.

It was also a first independent exhibition in the Var region, whilst we lived in the Luberon some of my work was bought by passing patrons and Bruno Bernard at the Gallery Sens Intérieur has for years been my window to the outside world.

This year’s work was still under way and set aside for Bruno’s September opening so I wondered, then it came, we would exhibit under the theme “Perspectives in Retrospective”

It did not take long to realize I had quite a few orphans from previous years, either pieces that were not quite ready for a scheduled exhibition or those that were never spoken for.

This corner was dedicated to works on Port Grimaud that had never been exhibited. The two “encre de chine” et oil sticks on paper were a surprise to find in my archives.

On the left two paintings from my Domestic Scenes period, “La Salle de Bains” and centerpiece “La Chambre Rouge” among those which never came home from the exhibition.

“Have a Nice Day” from the Carnet de Voyage period adorned the stairwell up while never exhibited “Private Rooms” from 2007 held the landing.

It was quite a surprise to see some of my biggest pieces attract so much attention, some spoken for, so I thought at the urging of my collectors a good idea to provide a forum for these works.

It is now up and running as Oeuvres disponible/available PaintingsIt will be perpetually “under construction” but please come have a look.
